Lenovo reportedly planning 12 inch netbook – IdeaPad S20

Could there be a new 12 inch IdeaPad netbook in the near future? The folks at DigiTimes certainly think so. They’re reporting that Lenovo is prepping a new 12 incher called the IdeaPad S20. The new system will feature the new Intel Atom N280 processor, the Intel GN40 chipset, and Microsoft Windows XP.

Interestingly enough, Lenovo is reportedly losing preferential price for the N280 processor because they’re bundling the Atom processor inside a system with a 12 inch display which breaks Intel’s restrictions for netbook products. This translates to a 10 dollar price increase – or Lenovo purchasing the Atom processor at the official list price.

The S20 is expected to be priced at around NT$20,000 or $586 dollars. No word on when to expect the IdeaPad S20.
