The Short History of NetbookTech.com

There really isn’t much to the history really. I (Felix) instantly fell in love with netbooks the minute I laid my hands on an ASUS Eee PC netbook. The rest is pretty much history. We laid the groundwork for a basic blog site a few months later and then officially launched the site in September of 2008.

During the time we’ve covered netbooks, we’ve seen the industry rapidly grow and evolve. Some of the highlights include:

  • Ever-larger display sizes – from 8.9 inch displays to 10.1 inch displays to 11.6 inch and larger ones today
  • Faster graphics thanks to the NVIDIA ION platform
  • Day-long battery lives from the likes of ASUS, Toshiba, and others
  • Integration of graphics and CPU with the Intel Pine Trail platform
  • The advent of the thin-and-light notebook market to compete with netbooks (thanks to ULV processors from AMD and then from Intel)
  • The introduction of Smartbooks utilizing Qualcomm Snapdragon processors

All that in less than 1.5 yrs. One can only imagine what’s in store for this industry – all great news for consumers. To that end, we’ll be here covering all that we can in this market segment – all in the hopes of providing you, the consumer, enough information to make well-informed decisions.

You can contact me (Felix Lung) directly by emailing me either at flung at netbooktech.com or flung at krunker.com. (you know the drill – replace the ‘at’ with @) :)

Again, many thanks for visiting!!!!

Felix
