Wood-like vinyl on a netbook mod
Here’s an excellent mod that msiwind.net forum member, tankboyben, applied to his Advent netbook. He took some sticky wood vinyl and applied it to the cover of the netbook as well as on the touchpad of the system (and yes the touchpad still works). I have to admit – from the look of the pictures, the application was extremely well done – especially the corners. I personally would shy away from a project like this simply because I’m super clumsy.. but it would be cool if a company like GelaSkins would create a skin for netbook systems (hint hint!).

Register Hardware reviews the Advent 4213 HSPDA-enabled netbook
The folks at Register Hardware have published a review of the Advent 4213 HSDPA-enabled netbook here on their website. The specs shouldn’t really surprise anyone familiar with netbooks. You’ll get the following with the Advent 4213.
- Intel Atom processor model N270 running at 1.6GHz
- 1GB of RAM
- 10.2 inch 1024 x 600 display
- 160GB SATA HDD
- Windows XP
- 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi
- Ethernet
- Bluetooth 2.0
- 3 USB 2.0 ports
- VGA port
- SDHC card reader
- 3600mAh battery
- 0.3 megapixel webcam
Perhaps the best part with the 4213? The unlocked built-in HSDPA support which means you can use the netbook on any carrier.
Here’s what they thought of the netbook:
It may have more storage than a netbook should have, and a weeny keyboard, but the Advent 4213 wins us over with its integrated HSDPA link.
