Nope.. the NEC LaVie Light is still ugly..
Wow.. thanks to this picture gallery over at Engadget’s Chinese website (translated by Google Translate), I can say for sure now that the new NEC LaVie Light is indeed… UGLY. Yes I did allude to this when the LaVie Light was first announced but I figured I’d give the netbook a chance.. but man.. first impressions don’t lie! This netbook is something out of the 80’s if you ask me! Spec wise, there’s really nothing all that special about the LaVie Light. It has your usual specs including Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, Wi-Fi, USB ports, etc etc.. Unfortunately what really stands out for the NEC netbook is the looks.. or lack thereof.

NEC’s new LaVie Light netbook is no beauty to behold
NEC is the latest company to join the netbook fray with the announcement of the LaVie Light and if there ever was a competition for the most boring looking netbook, it might actually be a contender in there. Wow.. the LaVie Light lacks style.. (doesn’t it remind you of something from the 80’s?)
Spec wise, it’s well.. your typical netbook configuration – an Intel N270 Atom processor running at 1.6GHz, 160GB HDD, an 8.9 inch display, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi b/g, three USB 2.0 ports, SD card slot, and a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera. According to Akihabara News, the LaVie Light measures 250 x 176.5 x 36.5 mm and weighs 1.17 kg.. No word on pricing but it should be in the same range as others..
but man.. does it have to be soo.. ug.. boring looking?
