Onkyo Sotec NX707A
I know what you’re thinking – this looks like the same netbook that you just saw in the previous posting.
Nope.
This is, in fact, an Onkyo Sotec NX707A netbook. Unfortunately, it’s still a fairly boring system despite the fact it’s another convertible netbook to come out of Japan. The NX707A features:
- Windows 7 Starter Edition
- Intel Atom Z520 clocked at 1.33 GHz
- 1GB RAM
- 80 GB 4200 RPM HDD
- Realtek ALC262 audio
- 1024 x 600 resolution display
- GPS
- 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi

Sotec announces new C102 minimum PC netbook
Sotec (Onkyo) has a new netbook model out in Japan called the C102 minimum PC. Available in silver and black, the C102 features an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM (with a max of 2GB in the system), a 160GB SATA HDD, a 10.1 inch LED backlit 1024 x 600 resolution display, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and Windows XP Home Edition.
There are currently four configurations for C102 series – the C102S4, C102S4B, C102B4, and C102B4B. Basically there are two configurations for each of the colors – with one configuration in each color featuring Microsoft Office Personal 2007 SP1.
The C102S4 and C102B4 is priced at 54,800 Yen ($616 U.S. dollars) while the C102S4B and C102B4B is priced at 74,800 Yen ($ 840 U.S. dollars).

Sotec’s Hello Kitty C1 netbook
Has it really come to this?
It’s one thing for a company to release a new netbook but my goodness, a Hello Kitty Netbook?? I found myself uttering “NOOO!! Please God NOOOOO!!!!!” (a la Michael to Toby from The Office last night).
Sadly yes.. it’s true.. Sotec has released a Hello Kitty version of their C1 netbook. The system comes with a Hello Kitty case cover, a Hello Kitty on the hinge, and yes.. a Hello Kitty desktop wallpaper.
If you HAPPEN to be interested in this netbook, here are the specs to the Hello Kitty C1:

- 1GB RAM

Sotec enters the netbook fray
Here’s the Sotec DC101 netbook which will be released on October 3rd. As typical of most current netbooks, the DC101 will come with an Intel Atom N270 processor running at 1.6GHz and 1GB of RAM. This system will also sport a 10.1 inch LCD display (1024 x 600 resolution) with LED backlight, a 120GB HDD, a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam, a 4 in 1 memory card reader, Wi-Fi support, and three USB 2.0 ports. Windows XP will be the OS of choice on the netbook which will also be available in either white or black. No word on pricing.
BTW – Isn’t Sotec now known as Averatec???
