Comments

msi wind reviewed by afterdawn

Here are a couple of new reviews for you to check out today. First up, the folks at AfterDawn.com have a new review up on the MSI Wind U100 netbook. While there’s no verdict, the site does list several pros and cons for the netbook. For pros, the U100 has “pretty fast start-up, good keyboard and touchpad, extremely powerful and longlasting battery”, while the cons include “Wi-Fi range, no scrolling on the touchpad, size, and hiccups in high load browsing”.

The second review comes from the folks at TrustedReviews where they managed to get their hands on a Toshiba Satellite NB100 netbook. Here’s what they had to say about the NB100:

Thus, if you want a no frills netbook at a no frills price, the Satellite NB100 could be a very good option.

Starting tomorrow, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 to be free with 2 yr Vodafone UK broadband service

Comments

dell inspiron mini 9 with vodafone

Beginning tomorrow, Vodafone UK will be offering a mobile broadband service which includes a free Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook. Two packages will be made available – a 1 GB two year package for £25 a month and a 2GB two year package for £30 a month. Each package comes with a free Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook which the folks at TrustedReviews reviewed here on their website. They had this to say about the netbook.

If you want a “connected” netbook then the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 on Vodafone is your best bet right now. Available for free on some attractive contracts, it’s the only netbook to offer integrated HSDPA. That it’s found inside a cohesively designed, attractive and highly portable chassis only adds to the appeal.

Again – if you’re in the UK and you’re thinking about getting mobile broadband services, then check out Vodafone’s offerings – especially since the Mini 9 comes free as a result.

New reviews of the Acer Aspire One

Comments

trustedreviews picture of acer aspire one Speaker of the Acer Aspire One netbook, two new reviews of the netbook have appeared over the last week. The first review is from the good folks at SlashGear who had this to say:

The Aspire One has been a pleasant surprise.  There’s a feeling that Acer have developed everything, made every design decision and hardware choice, with the mantra “don’t price it out of the market” ringing in their ears.  The end result could’ve been a cheap, flimsy, carbon-copy netbook, but turned out to have more neat touches and design strength than machines $200 more expensive.

Meanwhile, the folks at TrustedReviews wrote up a review here on their website. This one is a far longer review and after reading a few pages you’ll see that the author has a slight bias for the ASUS Eee PC 901. Of course it’s also worth noting (and the author does) that the 901 is more expensive than the Aspire One. Here’s the verdict from TrustedReviews:

If you want the cheapest 8.9in netbook out there with the second-best keyboard, the Acer Aspire One is currently the one to go for – though the Asus Eee PC 901 offers better value if your budget stretches further. However, if the 120GB HDD, 1GB RAM version of the One becomes available with a six-cell battery, at a price that still undercuts the Eee, Asus will have a serious battle on its hands.
